The 2nd Annual Scientific Meeting 2015 International Academy of Pathology (Malaysian Division) was held from 11th to 13th September 2015 at Weil Hotel, Ipoh, Perak.  This 3-day conference has attracted over 180 delegates to attend, which brought together medical laboratory technologists, scientific officers, medical officers, trainees, pathologists and dermatologists from around the country as well as from few South East Asia countries such as Indonesia and Singapore.

The focus of this year’s Conference was Dermatopathology and Uropathology.   These two topics were delivered by speakers internationally well regarded in their fields.  Participants were enlightened with the best-practice and new entities, including correct grossing techniques. This conference also opens the opportunity for several speakers from MOH hospitals of different parts of the country to share their cases and experience.

Prior to the commencement of the Conference, a successful preconference workshop was held, covering a comprehensive lectures and demonstrations on immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. This workshop was initially targeted for MLTs as well as Scientific Officers; nonetheless it also attracted the interest of the trainees and pathologists.

In addition, a pathology trade exhibition took place throughout the Conference, giving delegates the chance to network between academic sessions and learns about the latest product update, new opportunities and technologies. The Poster Presentations, comprising 26 papers on various aspects of Anatomic Pathology also proved to be a hit among the participants.

The Conference Gala Dinner held on 11 September was also a great success, providing a further opportunity for delegates to mingle in a relaxed atmosphere with great food and be entertained with a myriad of superb cultural dance performances and singing

The 2nd Annual Scientific Meeting 2015 International Academy of Pathology (Malaysian Division) was a successful event.  Much appreciation from all the participants and they look forward to the next conference for improvement of standard, practice and service delivery of anatomical pathology services.
